TIETHETOWNPINK

Started in 2014, TieTheTownPink began as an annual breast cancer awareness campaign organized by SOUL RYEDERS volunteers, Lisa Dominici and Susan Janart. Now its goal is to adorn the communities of Rye, Rye Brook, Harrison, Rye Neck, the Byram Hills community and surrounding towns with our pink ribbons beginning on October 1st to show our support for individuals and families affected by all types of cancer and to highlight the importance of regular prevention screenings. The pink ribbons show our support for community members fighting cancer, alert residents to the cause and provide a symbol of unity throughout the town. All proceeds from the campaign benefit SOUL RYEDERS’ local cancer-related programs and services.

STRAND TOGETHER

Part of SOUL RYEDERS’ The Wig Exchange, Strand Together is a hair donation program that provides Chemo Diva Halo wigs for our clients – a comfortable alternative to a regular wig that many of our clients wear during cancer treatment. These unique wigs are in high demand and we would like to ensure we have as wide a selection as possible in our inventory to meet everyone’s style! These special wigs are handmade from donated human hair (a minimum of 9 inches) which is attached to a soft piece of fabric and is covered by a hat or scarf. Oftentimes, our clients find them more comfortable to wear than a full wig. The fabric used for the Chemo Diva Halo wig’s skullcap is stretchy, breathable and wick-away.

Cover the Court with Coins

Cover the Court with Coins is a fun and joyful fundraiser which challenges children to cover a tennis court with their collected coins. This event brings people of all ages from Rye and surrounding communities together to demonstrate that everyone can make a difference and no amount is too small. Volunteers of all ages participate in this multi-generational, collaborative event including many of the local high schools’ Cancer Awareness Clubs. The members of these clubs are instrumental in organizing the event from promoting the event beforehand to helping the children spread their coins around the court to collecting every last coin at the end of the day. By participating as a volunteer, children and adults alike show their support for SOUL RYEDERS and can earn valuable community service hours required by many schools.

SOUL Fit

Giving back while doing something to benefit our own health and fitness offers our volunteers a win-win. SOUL Fit events allow you to choose a physical challenge that works best for you. Events range from team challenges such as our Kids Triathlon team which participates in the annual Westchester Triathlon to individual challenges with athletes and non-athletes alike pushing their limits and surprising themselves with what they can accomplish. Each participant creates personal fundraising pages to raise money to support SOUL RYEDERS.

Spring Luncheon

In the Spring of 2019, SOUL RYEDERS held a luncheon event called “Life HAPPENS: Strategies for Successfully Overcoming Adversity”. We had four engaging panelists from our community share their life-changing curve balls and what it took to emerge stronger and more resilient. The event sold out with over 250 guests in attendance. A wonderful time was had by all!
